Meet Dr. Jessica
Born and raised on the beautiful West Coast of British Columbia, Dr. Jessica developed a love for nature and the outdoors. She has many fond memories of playing in the ocean, climbing trees, and camping in the mountains with her family. Her journey into medicine began as a young child when she got a large splinter in her foot and calmly insisted on extracting it on her own. She became enthralled with all things medical and decided to become a doctor, reading and learning as much as she could in the ensuing years.
However, after years of struggling with her own chronic health issues and being frustrated with the shortcomings of the conventional medical system, Dr. Jessica realized that healing did not always come so easily as performing a simple procedure. Then she discovered naturopathic medicine and was impressed with the level of care she received, finally experiencing restoration to her health. She fell in love with naturopathic medical values and resonated with the holistic approach of seeking to discover the root cause of illness and treating the whole person with traditional, natural therapies combined with evidence-based scientific knowledge. Dr. Jessica is passionate about empowering patients and believes that medical care should be personalized and comprehensive. Above all, she seeks to help her patients feel heard and supported as she works towards her goal of becoming the doctor she wishes she had when she was most vulnerable. Dr. Jessica completed her double undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Intercultural Religious Studies from Trinity Western University) and subsequently received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree from Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (now known as the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine – Boucher campus). During her clinical training, she gained experience working with patients struggling with a variety of chronic health issues, including autoimmune diseases, cancer, and HIV/AIDS, and providing culturally sensitive healthcare to the Katzie First Nation in BC, Canada. Whatever their unique situation, she strives to help her patients experience the healthiest and happiest lives possible. When Dr. Jessica is not in the clinic, she can be found outdoors – hiking, gardening, camping, fishing, skiing – cooking new recipes, or enjoying time with her family and pets. |
